Character Biography:
Chandra Suresh was a genetics professor and researcher
at the University of Madras in Madras, India. He was also
a published author with the book titled Activating
Evolution. This book, along with his obsessive, seemingly
crazy theories, led to him being stripped of his tenure
and he was expelled from the university.
Chandra's son, Mohinder
Suresh, went on to take his place as Professor at
the university, while Chandra continued to obsess over
his genetics research, and the search for his "Patient
Zero." This led Chandra to New York City, and to
the man known at the time as "Gabriel
Gray."
After tracking down Gray, Chandra persuaded him to undergo
various tests in an attempt to discover what superpower
Gray's genes might contain. This continued to no avail,
as Gray soon found out his real power was to take on the
powers of others by murdering them. Suresh was left unaware
of this fact when Gray came to him with his newfound power.
It also seems that Gray was able to sense the powers of
others when he mistakenly murdered Chandra, but was actually
sensing the power of Chandra's next-door neighbor, Eden
McCain.
The untimely death of Chandra Suresh was likely the catalyst
for many of the events that have occurred: Gray, a changed
man -- with the new name to prove it -- was able to use
Suresh's research to track down his victims and steal
their powers; Mohinder Suresh arrived in New York to try
and solve the mystery behind his father's death, meeting
Peter Petrelli and
Eden along the way.

Actor Biography:
Erick (born Eruch) Avari is a British-Indian actor. He
was born April 13, 1952 and raised in Darjeeling, India.
His
most notable roles include such films as The Mummy,
Stargate, Independence Day, and the
comedy Mr. Deeds. Avari was also one of the few
to reprise his role from Stargate for the TV-spinoff
Stargate SG-1.
There was much confusion over his continuing role in
Heroes, when photos of his character Chandra Suresh
from the book Activating Evolution were inadvertently
replaced with another actor in an episode recap. It later
became apparent that this was due to an editing mistake.
Avari is slated for a number of roles in 2007, including
the Snakes on a Plane-esque horror/comedy Plane
Dead.
