No, It Was An April Fool’s Gag, But… If you came to HeroSite.net on April 1st, you may have seen the headline that NBC is planning on reviving Heroes for Fall 2012. … and if you had kept reading, you would have seen it was an April Fool’s gag, and that no such plans are currently being made. Hopefully no one got too angry at the Fool… hey, we’ve done it before… but the real reason it all happened to begin with was for an excuse to write this column, posted by HeroSite.net’s Craig Byrne at our general TV news site, KSiteTV. Room 5AB Tim Kring’s Statement On Heroes’ End Heroes creator Tim Kring has issued a statement about the cancellation of Heroes. Here’s what he had to say: “I want to first extend my deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to the legion of enthusiastic fans who have watched ‘Heroes’ on TV, online, DVR, DVD and mobile over the last four seasons. Every week more than 45 million TV viewers around the world, as well as millions of social and digital media-based fans, have made ‘Heroes’ one of the five most-watched shows across traditional and digital media screens in the history of television. For NBC, I certainly understand the challenge of creating a business model around a show which arrived precisely as the audience was finding new ways to watch traditional content on multiple screens. I personally have had 12 great years with my friends at NBC, and with ‘Heroes,’ they provided me a rare opportunity to put a message of hope, interconnectivity and global consciousness into the world. For that I am grateful and look forward to finalizing our discussion about a number of ways to keep the ‘Heroes’ universe alive for its fans.” A Two-Hour Heroes Wrap-Up Is Still Possible Variety spoke with NBC executives today at the time of their Upfront announcement, and posted a quote from NBC Entertainment President Angela Bromstad where she talked about the decision to end Heroes and the possibility for more in the future. Here’s what she said: “I think that Tim knew that this could have been the last season for ‘Heroes’ and he answered a lot of questions for the fans. But after the upfront Tim and I are going to sit down and see if he is interested in doing a two-hour movie event, and we’ll see how it goes.” HeroSite.net Reviewer Otto Berkeley Writes His Goodbyes One of the most popular elements of HeroSite.net has been the review section featuring recaps and analysis from Otto Berkeley. Otto has written a special piece saying goodbye to the readers and to the show. Check it out, and be sure to leave him some comments while you’re at it. Heroes Canceled? Just two days ago we were saying that Heroes Season 5 is still a possibility, but now, the very reliable Josef Adalian at NYMag is saying that it’s done. “As NBC has become more confident in its slate of new shows, all indications are that our Heroes are dead,” Adalian says in his latest column which can be found here. Apparently even Tim Kring has not been given this news. If Heroes is indeed over, a two- or four-hour movie wrapup can still be a possibility. NBC will be announcing their Fall schedules on Sunday, May 16. Pre-Order Your Season 4 Heroes DVD’s! The fourth season of Heroes is now available to pre-order on the DVD and Blu-ray formats.
